About The Sound of Music
This year’s eagerly-awaited musical will be held in the INEC on February 26, 27 and 28 and the new production team at the helm includes award-winning director and choreographer Peter Kennedy and musical director Noel Lennon. The 1965 American musical drama, based on the von Trapp family with music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, is a real crowd pleaser with classic numbers including classics such as Climb Every Mountain, My Favourite Things and Maria. This is Killarney Musical Society’s 34th production and the main roles will be played by Siobháin Bustin (Maria), Bronagh Ní Mhurchú, Judy Rezin and Claire Sheehan (nuns), Bríd Mills (Mother Abbess), Derek O’Leary (Captain Von Trapp), Peter Cooke (Franz), Orna Cleary O’Shea (Frau Schmidt), Sarah Trant and Lily Foley (Liesl), Jonathan O Keeffe (Rolf)Brayden Slattery and Jack McCrohan (Friedrich), Saoirse O Sullivan and Leana Hoffman (Louisa), Denis Moroney and Colm O’Brien (Kurt), Clodagh O’Sullivan and Aoife O’Callaghan (Marta), Emily O’Shea and Lucy McCarthy (Gretl), Caoimhe Murray and Feile O’Sullivan (Brigitta), Harriet McGuigan (Elsa Schraeder), Pádraig Creedon (Max Detweiler) and Des Furlong (Herr Zeller).
